Chopstix
8 October, 2008
I’ve tried time and time again to use chopsticks… but have NEVER succeeded in picking up ANYTHING! Until last night…
Last night we went for dinner at this quaint little place down the road from our house. My partner wanted sushi… and they had it!
So there we were, him with his sushi and me with my chicken (I’m a simple eater… nothing strange for me… and if it can breathe underwater, there’s no way I’m going to eat it…). The waitress asks “Would you like a fork?” “Yes please,” I respond. And sitting across from me my Angel was digging into his sushi with his chopstix, and I thought, bugger this. I’m going to give these things one more try…
And IT WORKED!!! And looking this morning, I can tell you I was holding them nothing like what this website tells you to:
http://www.robsworld.org/chopsticks.html
It was CRAZY. There I was, the most uncoordinated person on the planet managing to eat with two sticks!!! No, really, I am the most uncoordinated! I trip over my own feet and bash myself constantly (punishing myself perhaps?), nothing serious of course… hardly ever bruise myself, except when I concuss myself… done that a few times, but that’s a whole nother story… to be told I guess one day when SanityFound and I are out and about again… when we need a good laugh… and then I shall recount the conversation here, so you can laugh to…
So… the moral of today’s story… even when you’ve tried and tried and tried something before, and just couldn’t manage to get it right… sometimes all you need to do is step away, accept the idea that its not possible for you to do something… and then… one day… out of the blue… just try it again…
You may just surprise yourself… like I did. And I am still so proud of myself… and excited! I didn’t drop them… ok, I may have messed some noodle juice all over my face… but IT WORKED!!! and I did manage to get more food in my mouth than fell back on the plate!!!
Woooohhhhhooooooo!!!! Yay me!!!
p.s. sometimes we should take the little moments, and just be proud of ourselves for our small accomplishments… I’ve been in a good mood the whole day… and all because of a little thing like chopsticks!
Good for you: the lessons in this that I hear, is to never, EVER give up; and, to always be creative in how you achieve your intention. Maybe, the regular old way of using chopsticks was too boring for you, yes? But, after all, you DID it!!! YAY!!! And, yet another person as uncoordinated as SF says that she is? How did you two ever survive the friendship? Warn me if I might see you two in my neighborhood…. LOL…..
you DO realise we are going to go to a Chinese restaurant next time right??? Yip gotta see this for real! Am much relieved to hear that I am not the only who has these “moments” of crash boom bang… *does partay dance for the chopstix* Dang now I’m not the only one that can use them *sniff* aaaah WAIT but can you eat a cookie with them??? huh punk?
Vanessa – I’m not sure how we’ve survived… it must have been the way to LOOOONNNNNGGGG breaks in between. But we’re back on track now, so watch out! And, well, when the two of us are together… oh shit. I was going to say that nothing happened… but what did I do to the car the other days. Oops!!!
Sanity – We can try and go to a chinese place, but if they don’t have Jinxie friendly food, then what are we going to do? … oh… and if I can eat noodles with chopstix, then a cookie will be a piece of cake!!!
