30 September, 2008Every now and again I come across some interesting words. I love words, I love using them, I love thinking about them and I love playing with them.
Today’s word is
Fubsy
Yes, you heard me right. Fubsy. Now, without going to Dictionary.com, try and figure it out. I heard on the radio the other day that there are some words that are going to become extinct, and apparently this is one of them.
Fubsy. In that: “Man that guy over there is fubsy”. He’s short. He’s stout. He’s fubsy. I love it. A word that means short and stout. I’ve started using this in my daily vocabulary now. Everything is fubsy. Except of course my partner. He’s anything but fubsy, so I can’t have a new pet name for him… he will be offended.
p.s. my spell check even thinks that its a misspelt word… ha ha ha ha.

My nickname from school has been Fubsy. I was small not stout but we were given a school task to find words we didn’t know and along came my word and nickname. I am also called Fubby.
One kinder dictionary defined it as small and cuddly.
So alive and well and sad that Fubsy is going to be taken out of the dictionary.
